Jean Valjean

Prisoner 24601. After being released from imprisonment for serving nineteen years (five for stealing a loaf of bread and fourteen for multiple escape attempts), he breaks parole and, after receiving mercy from Bishop Myriel, turns his life around to live for God, showing the effects of God's grace that bring a corrupt man into virtuous and selfless living. He changes his identity, becoming the wealthy mayor of a small town. He later adopts Cosette, the only daughter of Fantine. At the end, he eventually dies and the spirit of Fantine thanks him for raising her child.

This is a vocally demanding role.

Prisonnier 24601. Après avoir été libéré de prison pour avoir purgé dix-neuf ans (cinq pour avoir volé une miche de pain et quatorze pour plusieurs tentatives d'évasion), il rompt la libération conditionnelle et, après avoir reçu la miséricorde de Mgr Myriel, transforme sa vie pour vivre pour Dieu, montrant les effets de la grâce de Dieu qui amènent un homme corrompu à une vie vertueuse et désintéressée. Il change d'identité et devient le riche maire d'une petite ville. Il adopte plus tard Cosette, la fille unique de Fantine. À la fin, il finit par mourir et l'esprit de Fantine le remercie d'avoir élevé son enfant.

We'll firstly give you a folder with all the useful elements for your audition (lyrics of the imposed songs and audition's backing tracks)

Then, you'll be added to a group in which we'll communicate all the practical information concerning your audition (time and place).

SECOND STEP:

prepare your audition!

Here is what we'll ask you to do/ Voici ce que nous te demandons de faire:

1) Sing one song of the character you are interested in from the list given to you. Learn it and try to interpret it as your character would./ Chanter une chanson du personnage qui t'intéresse dans la liste fournie. Apprends-la et essaye de l'interpréter comme le ferait ton personnage.

For Valjean, we ask you to choose between Who am I?, What have I done? and Bring him home/ Pour Valjean, nous te demandons de choisir entre Who am I?, What have I done? et Bring him home.

2) If you have a song you really want to show us, you can prepare one! We'll let you sing 30 secs/1 minute of your song./ Si tu as une chanson que tu veux vraiment nous montrer, tu peux en préparer une ! Nous te laisserons chanter 30 secondes/ 1 minute de ta chanson.

3) We'll also have an "interview" to see your experience and, before anything else, your motivation/ Nous ferons aussi un "entretien" pour voir ton expérience et, avant toute chose, ta motivation.
